J. R. Jones Chicago Reader The movie has enough blinding anger to pull you along, and Perry plays around with one's sympathies by making Henson's character increasingly monstrous, but the pallid dialogue is a constant drag on the story. Mar 5, 2020 Full Review Roxana Hadadi Pajiba Acrimony is presented with a typical filmmaking choice or an absurd one, it goes with the latter. May 7, 2018 Full Review Ben Sachs Chicago Reader It's all very entertaining and dumb, the posh settings pushing the drama further into the realm of escapist fantasy. Apr 5, 2018 Full Review Ronak Kotecha The Times of India It's engaging the way Tyler takes us through the lives of his characters. And in the end, it's an oddly satisfying feeling to be left wondering, who really is the victim here Rated: 3/5 Feb 1, 2022 Full Review John Manuel Arias Mediaversity Reviews "Perry is infamous in his treatment of LGBTQ people, especially gay Black men." Rated: D Nov 27, 2021 Full Review Matt Cipolla Film Monthly Two hours of . . . lazy filmmaking and tired, harmful stereotypes against women and the mentally ill, all wearing a thin sheen of imposter silk to pass itself off as a cautionary tale. Donpreyel M Brilliant and culturally untethered (if one can clear his/her filters). It is rare that I give 5 stars to any movie. Though this movie started with a mild momentum, I think it did a wonderful job of setting the atmosphere as to why the title Acrimony was relevant. It is also apparent that both critics and general movie goers watched this movie with a culturally and in some cases, a gender biased mind. On one hand the Africentrics as well as the few Afri-sensitives are rooting for TP to produce quality film work, a relatable story line, and dynamic theatrics. On the other hand there are many non Afrocentrics who don't relate to the cultural significance and or the gender characterizations. Reading the reviews reminds me that our world has a long way to go as to understanding each other and why we write what we write, dance how we dance, and sing how we sing etc. 95% of that I know who have watched this film have given it 5 stars. So, in my world the movie was a success but in the broader world of critics it has fallen under the scrutiny of those who may not understand its' relevance. Rated 4/5 Stars •Rated 4 out of 5 stars09/06/23 Full Review Dr Ugbede Victor A Was captivating. Robert is a perfect gentleman, and to be honest, he was caught between two hard choices. At times you need your ex to smoothen things out for you but, it could ruin up things. His ex was at the right place at the right time. Sadly, Melinda is a true lover, providing support but the "business" part of Robert needed more than Melinda's love and financial support. Getting back to her after his battery invention hits, was the sweetest part. Sadly, Melinda killed herself. Rated 5/5 Stars •Rated 5 out of 5 stars01/12/23 Full Review Michael G Forget the critics on this one. They got it wrong . It's nothing like fatal attraction. It's a good watch with an excellent cast and a feeling of uneasiness throughout the whole movie .Recommend Rated 3.5/5 Stars •Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member A tale of 2 halves. 1st half of the movie you sympathize with her. 2nd halve you sympathize with him. Rated 3.5/5 Stars •Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars11/30/22 Full Review Kevin A This is an excellent movie, with many twists and turns that keep you constantly wondering how much can, or should you love someone. Rated 5/5 Stars •Rated 5 out of 5 stars08/20/22 Full Review Da Homiee A Scandalous fatal attraction like theme. Malinda becomes aggressively angered by her husbands betrayal. Parents should be aware that the film contains violence and profanity. I give The Fall Guy 4 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 12 to 18, plus adults. Catch The Fall Guy in theaters on May 3, 2024.
The film received its R-rating due to language, sexual content, and brief graphic nudity, making it unsuitable for younger viewers. Despite the portrayal of a fake relationship, the chemistry among the cast is apparent and contributes to the movie's adult nature.
The NC-17 rating is the highest rating (even higher than the R-rating) that a film can be given, and it means the movie is for adults only (ages 18 and older) and no one age 17 or younger will be admitted. This rating, prior to 1990, was previously rated X.
This movie is a comedy with real funny bits that made the whole theater laugh and there is no extreme amount of sex (a few kisses and that's it). There is some violence but nothing graphic and swear words but not to much. One character takes drugs and is high, there is drinking.
In this movie, the characters from the hospital are also the characters in the fantasy, and the two stories ultimately merge. However, there are many objectionable elements including very graphic violence and a worldview filled with humanist and pagan thought. Caution should be exercised.
The trailer for this movie looks like a cross between Mean Girls and Groundhog Day. Since it's rated PG-13 I thought I'd be ok bringing two thirteen year olds to it. It is not a young teen movie!
