A movie that goes looking for answers to life's hard questions, but gives up pretty easily.

Simple tale is elevated through some great dialogue. There has been many movies made about someone causing religious enlightenment that spreads being their control, causing them to look into their own beliefs. What "Divine Access" does well is display care, respect and an intellectual understanding of multiple religions. Often these type of films are preachy and very one sided. Or these types of films are ignorantly downplaying and degrading belief systems.
I can see some people not appreciating some of the more honest scenes as the film does study and analyze the problematic effects of misinterpreting scriptures and inserting meaning where it doesn't belong, and the ridiculousness of blind faiths without being mean or judgmental about it. Well, it’s too bad this movie didn’t deliver on the promise of the first third. I’m the end, it feels a little heavy handed. It’s quite a shame, I really enjoyed the cast and like I said, the beginning was great. Overall, not bad but not great.

Gary Cole talks through a "Mini Jesus" ventriloquist dummy in Divinity Access, which alone covers the price of admission.

Copy corrupted right at the end of the first act, was really excited to finish this for about a week. Too bad the director didn't seem to be interested in doing something intriguing with the character. Great cast, tight chemistry.

"There was no miracle here today, if you need to believe something believe that" - Jack Harriman (Billy Burke)
Pedestrian, lightly comic drama about a slacker turned reluctant preacher Jack, who ends up on a road trip to inspire, find meaning and get laid. The films heart is in the right place, and throws in a few enjoyable moments. But ultimately it offers nothing an episode of the similar toned Californication doesn't. And it was depressing seeing the once great Gary Cole (Midnight Caller, American Gothic) reduced to such a shitily weak part.
